"Staffing all of our locations across all shifts has been increasingly difficult. The Tesla MR program has proven to be very successful in producing quality MRI technologists who are ready to hit the ground running. By allowing Tesla students to complete their clinical hours at our facilities, it gives us a head start into training future technologists using our specific protocols and workflows."VP of Operations
"We were looking for creative ways to train internal staff to become MRI technologists and found Tesla MR. It was a perfect fit. Within just one year, the Tesla MR team turned one of our Tech Assistants into a fantastic MRI Technologist. Since then, we've placed three more employees into the program and are getting the same results. This program really works."Director of Operations
"The Tesla Institute program is innovative and creative. Staff members are very involved with students and in regular contact with clinical training sites. In these times of acute staffing shortages, innovative programs like Tesla are vital."Director of Radiology

What imaging directors and HR teams ask us most
Students must be supervised by an ARRT or ARMRIT certified MRI technologist during all clinical hours. The supervisor doesn't need to be dedicated full-time—they just need to be available to oversee scans and sign off on competencies.
Students are covered by their own liability insurance through our program. We also carry institutional coverage. Your standard site policies apply, and we provide all necessary documentation for your compliance team.
Absolutely. Many students work as MRI tech aides during their training—helping with patient transport, coil setup, and room turnover. This is especially common with apprenticeship arrangements where the student is already an employee.
Communication is key. If there are performance concerns, we work with you to address them. If it's not a good fit, we can reassign the student to a different site. You're never locked in.
That depends on your capacity and preferences. Some sites host one student at a time, others host 3-5 simultaneously. More students means a bigger pipeline, but we'll help you find the right number for your operation.
Phase 3 (clinical training) requires 20+ hours per week on the scanner. Most sites work with students to fit this around their existing staff schedule—often early mornings, evenings, or weekends when there's scanner availability.
No direct cost to you. The student pays tuition to Tesla MR. You provide scanner access and supervision. In return, you get trained help now and a pipeline of job-ready techs later.
Tesla MR is the only MRI school in the US with a Department of Labor approved Registered Apprenticeship Program. This can unlock state and federal funding for training costs. We'll help you navigate the options.
You'll need an active 1.5T or 3T MRI scanner with regular patient volume, an ARRT or ARMRIT certified tech available to supervise, enough exam variety to meet clinical competency requirements, and the ability to provide 20+ hours per week of scanner access during Phase 3. If you're not sure whether you qualify, just reach out—we'll figure it out together.
